For human networks to thrive and have a planetary impact, they will need to: Be composed of real people (with the option of pseudo-anonymity) in good standing with their communities. Operate with decentralized structures, supported by AI-assisted community-based and personal moderation. Remain active and interconnected across the entire web. Have tools that allow them to meet, interact, and collaborate seamlessly across all digital spaces. Have the ability to connect and annotate content across the web, enhancing collective knowledge. Share access to a robust, interconnected information ecology. Maintain control over their own data. Without these principles, staying in silos with fake accounts, fake traffic, and fabricated virality will allow Big Tech to continue extracting value from our collective digital presence—feeding on our data and, in a sense, our very essence. This is why we’re kicking off the Meta-Layer Initiative on September 16th. It’s time to create the tools and infrastructure to enable a truly decentralized, transparent, and impactful web. Looking forward to continuing this conversation and making real progress.
